New album for a New Year!

Well, Finishing up work for 2009 Vinz Clortho put the final vocal tracks down today and I have to say I will be proud to have my name as a participating member of this band! Every member is a genius in there own ways but this time there is no denying it! Try as you might there is no possible way your not going to be impressed with this album!
I have also asked an old dear friend, Leah Hocter from Columbus, Oh ,  to help me work up some designs. She is very talented and I am lucky to have such friends.  Timm wasn't as stocked about the first scetches to come back as I was but opinions are like assholes and we are kinda assholes :)
Leah is elaborating on one of the original sketches for me so i can make a very short run of Tshirts, and working on some new designs to try and get something more Timms speed for a Logo. He was afraid that using such direct imagery to the legendary crypto-zoological creature known as the Chupa Cabra would distract from the fact that we are a record label and not Bigfoot hunters. I personally thought it was rather fitting and Hilarious. To each his own i guess.
The picture below was my favorite of the preliminary sketches.

There were a couple other good ones but this one tickled my funny bone .

θέατρον "the seeing place"

Monday is the beginning of a new week and the start of a series of jobs I have ahead of me to get all my ducks in a row.
I try not to complain to much. No one really wants to hear it, but with a broken down car, a home in the middle of serious restorations during the coldest months of the year, the holiday season, a number of obligations with Chupa Cabra House has me feeling a bit thin, like butter that's been spread over to much bread. (in the timeless words of Bilbo Baggins)
Luckily I have this newest album to give me something positive to focus on. I am eager to get this new set on the stage. I know the album will be super duper to say the least but I am bursting at the seams to preform this one! Anyone who's ever seen the old 'Incredible Edible Eggheads', "Left Leg Limpin', or "The Short and Skinny" shows know that the live shows are powerhouse performances from the get go! "Timm Tayshun and The Sinns" is another good example of what we can do as a group. Timm wrote, recorded, and mastered an amazing couple solo albums and played some great live shows but when we all get together for the live show we start feeding off each others energy and the effect is impressive.
I am eager to get back in the recording booth and get the final parts of this Vinz Clortho album down so we can get it ready to distribute the final product. I feel it may also be time to get a torrent available of the old "Short and Skinny" stuff. Chupa Cabra House was a twinkle in our eyes at that time and we were reliant on the aid if a good friend to record it and we did it all in one day so the recording mastering is wanting but the overall album isnt bad. I would bring the vocals down a bit but Oh well, Whats done is done.

Tis the season to be writing

Vinz Clortho appears to be one the verge of an EP. I know I'm excited about it. Timm has even extended our deadline thanks to the madness of the holidays. I hope to be adding another available download to the list soon and then its full swing back into the solo. (assuming the powerful momentum of the VC doesn't sweep us all away and 4 song ep end up as a 4 disc album)
Stay tuned for more exciting news from the Chupa Cabra House!

Vinz Clortho is a serious task master!

HIT THE STUDIO TODAY AT A BREAK NECK PACE!
I have to admit that working with VC is totally different than any other recording experience I've had. We started with Vinze Clortho's driving beats. Then Bluntsworth set down with Jim Dick and we started making up track names, song and album concepts, conceptualizing how we wanted the vocals to sound, writting chorus' and verses, and then we set out to record. A few short hours (and one trip to the vet to pick up my cat and back) later we had 2 songs FINISHED! On a 4 song ep I'd say we made considerable headway. I'm pretty proud of the little verse I wrote on my way to the Vet and back.
So look out world! The VC and BW album ft. JD will be coming your way soon. I expect this to be availible for download near the first of the year and will expect to see it on the upcoming Chupa Cabra House sampler CD.

Vinze Clortho is back!

It seemed for a while as if the new studio was going to be over ran with other projects and Vinze Clortho was going to be taking a back seat. From beyond all hope as Bluntsworth was sitting in the studio at the end of the day Friday we decided that the VC album needed to come next.
This coming week we plan on working as a group for at least a few hours a day to get the 3-4 part vocals written and ready to record.
I've been back in front of my turntables getting ready for this and am very excited. I also should have my solo EP ready for a digital release will be ready for download sooner than hoped. This will precede a full length solo album that will contain the best tracks from the EP and numerous others.
There has also been talk of a Chupa Cabra House sampler CD with a few tracks from each of the different Chupa Cabra House projects.
I find all this hopeful and am looking forward to seeing where this all goes.

Procrastination runs in my family.

Well, It's been a long time. I haven't been working nearly enough lately but I've began the turn around. Have a few new songs add to those to a couple previous tracks from the back log then I throw in a track that I did with old Left Leggers and I am trying to get a few tracks in with my step brother who was influential in my involvement with diy music.
I hope to have enough material worthy of the stage within the next couple months that I can start breaking it in for the recording of my premier solo album.

The Long Drive Home

After a week on the beach its always a bit of a let down starting the ride home. From Pensacola,fl to Mobile, Al then up to Memphis, Tn and straight across west to Fort Smith, Ar.
This ride does't have much in the way of scenery aside from the sides of the road flying by. While still in Alabama we made sure to pull over and get some boiled peanuts and other produce from a vendor. I have to say that boiled peanuts are one of my favorite road tripping snacks when down in this portion of the states.

Saltwater & Sand

With only one day left until we had to leave we went out and found a phone booth for me to stand next to then spent the rest of the day enjoying the beach.

We ran across an area that had been marked off so that the baby sea turtles would have the best chance to make it out to the ocean undisturbed. With the amount of sea turtles we've seen from the docks and in the water nearby us as we swam its no surprise to find such a thing.

Stinky who has sworn off getting in the drink and has opted to spend his remaining time as a travelling minstrel as Aja and I enjoy some walks on the beach.

Below you can see a jelly fish almost as clearly as we could.

Its beatiful at dusk and a little sad knowing that we leave tomorrow although I know our pets will be missing us.

A Day At The Beach

Making the best of the mass market for seafood in this region I most admit I've had oysters for a number of meals already. My friend Stinky is suffering from either drinking so much salt water on accident of possibly he has a connection to Fort Smith that makes him ill if he sleeps so far from it. He has began ordering an appetizer as a meal so when he inevitably can't finish it Aja and myself could easily help out.
Fort Smith Transplant here in Pensacola is our Old band mate and long time friend Riley. I love my friends.  8^) A flock of seagulls helped repeatedly today to keep me fully entertained.

Fort Smith to Fort Pickens

A  short and very scenic drive from Pensacola Beach is the old fort where they kepy Geronimo and his family captive. Luckily the view was prettier than the history and we enjoyed a half of a day of site seeing and adventuring through Fort Pickens, Fl.
Being from Fort Smith old military installations are nothing new but the size of this place was incredible. It seemed that we could drive for ever and around every corner was another entrance to the enormous underground series of tunnels.

Not having a flash light was a bit of a bummer here. I could brave the dark tunnels despite the reason that kept  creeping into my mind telling me that this place was spookier than any place i'd like to be with out a light at least.
Soon we came to the heart of the compound. It was massive by any comparrison despite the huge series of tunnels we'd just passed.  If you enjoy toying around with massive cannons and exploring dark passages
this is your place.

Pensacola Beach Or Bust

I always love going to the beach and living in Arkansas thats not always the easiest thing to do. The beaches in Tx i've been to are as nasty as a beach can get but a shorrt 12 hr drive from Fort Smith is Pensacola, Fl. My wifes family have a long standing love of this beach and the first vacation we took that wasn't to my Mothers to visit was to this pleasant little beach town. We have a tendency to go at the beginning of Hurricane season because we like to push our luck and to avoid the peak months prices. So far so good. Sometime in September is when we love it.
Trying to juggle our schedules for time together is a chore sometimes so we occasionally travel in a fashion thats a little strange. I work 5am - 5pm so soon as I get off work on my last day before vacation we hit the road within an hour and a half normally and drive all night. I've worked in trucking dispatch for a while and use to frequent the bars in my youth so all nighters with long periods between sleep aren't unusual.  With my wife and a life long friend in tow the journey began. The drive to see the sunrise over the Gulf normally is what keeps me moving. This time the drive was interesting. Our Navigational device wasn't aware of the shortcut we knew of so for a few hours we really made up time on our ETA and made it in time for the sunrise but lucky for us the patially cloudy sky blocked the sun peaking over the water. Not one to cry over cloudy skys I braved a quick dip in the water that was full of sea life.
I seen more jelly fish, sea turtles and schools of fish that i'd seen on my collective trips previous to this one.
After a quick dip and a few photos shots with my camera phone we headed to our Villa for a quick nap to refresh the mind and spirit and then for a week of beach time.

Indie Secret and the upcoming torrent CD

The most recent venture for Chupa Cabra House is indiescret.com an online zine focused on regional underground music. With it still being the beginning stages we have a small amount of content but it has been growing steadily. With a number of album reviews a few venue interviews and a movie and show review here of there it is growing in content. Hopefully soon we will find a couple more fitting writers things will really get moving.
With our newly formed grapevine of contacts we are working on releasing a torrent cd for free download to showcase some of the talent we have been running across. This will hopefully be the first of a series.
